People
with Physical and Multiple Disabilities: Illustrations
of Integrated Employment
The purpose of this manual is to illustrate
to both individuals and their support network that it
is possible for persons who experience significant multiple
disabilities to work in individualized community settings.
The success of the Alternatives program speaks through
brief descriptive profiles and photographs of the individuals
involved. These illustrations will encourage individuals,
providers, parents, school personnel, case managers,
and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation counselors
to strive for fully integrated, individualized community-based
employment opportunities for the person(s)with whom
they work. We also hope that this manual will serve
to inspire families to believe that fully integrated
employment is an achievable outcome for their relative
with a disability and to advocate for this.
